In light of Jon Jones’ latest legal troubles, Reebok has reportedly terminated their sponsorship of the former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. Capping off a rough past few days for Jones who was also stripped of his title ahead of UFC 187 where he was slated to defend his belt against Anthony “Rumble” Johnson on May 23, it looks like Jonny Bones has just lost is latest apparel sponsor as well.
As mentioned by ESPN Sports Business Reporter Darren Rovell on Twitter, Jones’ Reebok endorsement deal has ended effective immediately, despite JBJ being selected as one of the UFC’s faces to represent Reebok as the brand continues to make strides in the MMA world. In addition to a complete Reebok Jon Jones signature collection, the former champ was also featured in a Reebok ZPump Fusion commercial most recently to further promote the brand’s UFC connection.
Regardless of Reebok’s severed ties with Jones, you can expect to see a lot more of the athletic footwear and apparel brand inside and around the Octagon when the official Reebok UFC Uniform makes its debut in July 2015. In the meantime, watch for a new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion to be crowned at UFC 187 when Anthony Johnson battles Daniel Cormier for the belt in just a few weeks.
